8 cups oats
½ cup dry milk
1 cup white wheat flour
½ tsp salt
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup honey
½ cup oil
½ cup water
2 tsp vanilla or maple flavoring
in a large bowl combine oats, milk and flour. Set aside. In a small saucepan combine salt, sugar, honey, oil, water, and flavoring. Heat on low just until gently warm (you can stir it with your finger without being hot) Do not get it hot! If you do, cool before using it. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Pour over oat mixture and stir till well mixed. Spread onto large baking pans (sheet cake pans work well). Bake at 225*F for one hour, stirring every 15 minutes to keep from browning. Let cool and store in airtight container.
(optional)
Add nut before baking. Add raisins after baking.Add any ingredients your family prefers. Made just plain as above, it works well with vanilla yogurt and fruit for a parfait.
